Was picked up at o’dark-thirty one Saturday morning about six years ago for my first experience volunteering on the street. I kept showing up and they kept giving me more to do – stirring the grits, running the grill, hauling the trailer. Eventually found myself on the board and was elected chairman in 2016. Love the giving spirit of our volunteer crews and the opportunity to help others discover that the less fortunate we serve are equal to us in every way. Getting to know some of our friends on the street every Saturday morning has encouraged me to open up and connect with countless others outside of FTHP’s service. FTHP has definitely changed my life – and maybe a few others’, too.
